Lost Horizon: First half hour duplicates 1937 film scene for scene, and everything's going well. Then we get to Shangri-La and everything goes bad. Fantomas against Scotland Yard: A sarcastic cliffhanger-type venture story, with Marais as wonderful felon involved in sports orientated adventures. Cast includes Jean Marais, Louis De Funes, Mylene Demongeot, and Henri Serre. (104 minutes, 1966)

Air America: Guides Mel and Bob are part of the C.IA.'s smuggling operation in Laos throughout the Vietnam War. They crate anything and anyone anyplace. Supposed action comedy has few giggles and makes little sense. Cast includes Mel Gibson, Robert Downey, Jr., Nancy Travis, David Marshall Grant, Aisle Smith, Ken Jenkins, and Art La Fleur. (112 minutes, 1990)

The Belles of St. Trinians: Humorous movie of Ronald Searle's cartoons about an entirely insane school for gals, run by a dotty head mistress whose brother, a bookie, desires to use school to his benefit. Cast includes Alastair Sirn, Joyce Grenfell, George Cole, Hermione Baddeley, and Beryl Reid. (90 minutes, 1954)

Only Two Pan Play: Well-intentioned filming of the Kingsley Amis novel That Undecided Sensation (adjusted by Bryan Forbes), yearning for fast giggles instead of satire. Peter Vendors is a librarian flirting with a local councilman's wife. Will they take things too far' Cast includes Peter Vendors, Mai Zetterling, Virginia Maskell, Richard Attenborough, and Kenneth Griffith. (106 minutes, 1962)

Good Luck: The tale of a blind guy and a paraplegic who plan to enter a white-water rafting race in request to demonstrate their own self esteem. The topic of glory over difficulty is farni1iar, although the film's heart is in the right place. There are some sincerely amusing scenes. Cast includes Gregory Hines, Vincent D'Onofrio, James Earl Jones, Max Gail, Joe Theismann, Roy Firestone, Maria O'Brien, and Sara Spark. (98 minutes, 1997)

The Lawyer: Energetic tale loosely based on the renowned Dr. Sam Sheppard murder case. Newman is a stubborn youthful barrister guarding physician implicated of killing his spouse, fighting lawful procedure and uncooperative judge. Cast includes Barry Newman, Harold Gould, Diana Muldaur, Robert Colbert, and Kathleen Crowley. (117 minutes, 1970)

Dillinger and Capone: In 1940, discharged from prison, Al Capone (Abraham) holds the family of John Dillinger (Sheen) for ransom. Al desires the bank robber to recoup 150,000 dollars of Capone's monies from a hotel in Chicago. The clever plot is increased by smooth acting jobs, although it eventually skids into a basic heist thriller. Cast includes Martin Sheen, F. Murray Abraham, Stephen Davies, Catherine Hicks, Don Stroud, Sasha Jenson, Michael Oliver, Jeffrey Combs, Michael C. Gwynne, Anthony Crivello, Bert Remsen, and Clint Howard. (94 minutes, 1995)

Night Moves: L.A. investigator Hackman sets apart his domestic grief to track nymphet Griffith to Florida Keys. Difficult however underrated mental suspense film by Alan Acute leads to shocking pinnacle. Cast includes Gene Hackman, Jennifer Warren, Susan Clark, Edward Binns, Harris Yulin, Kenneth Harms, James Woods, Melanie Griffith, Dennis Dugan, and Max Gail. (99 minutes, 1975)
