People cannot blame the Timberwolves this time.
David Kahn trusted Ricky Rubio at face value... that he aspired to join the NBA. But when push came to shove... after all the strings were tugged and the hoops taken care of... Ricky Rubio betrayed them.
"Going to Minnesota might have just complicated my existence a lot. It was a hazard and I did not perceive it so clearly," Rubio insisted. "My priority was the National Basketball Association and it was out of the question for the team to pay my takeover clause, so I planned to remain house."
Oh... boo hoo. It might have complicated your life. You mean participating in the NBA and experiencing the alleged dream you have? And that part regarding being unable to assume the buyout:
Kahn said Rubio's mediator, Dan Fegan, came through with a package of endorsement agreements and sponsorships that helped make the basketball agreement appealing enough for Rubio and Joventut to come into an agreement last weekend.Rubio asserts the contract came with too many tests... even though it is his representative that came up with the contract.
The TWolves took a chance on this young player... and they finally worked out a deal to bring him to the NBA. Although when push came to shove... he got fearful. Hey... it is his choice. You do not have to play where you don't aspire to, Ricky.
Just do not say something and do something completely different. Do not opt out since you do not like the franchise that drafted you. That's part of the package.
It's the identical contract everyone else works out. In exchange for making it to the pros, you would have to end up somewhere you do not wish to end up. You suppose Blake Griffin is enthralled going to the LA Clippers? Or fellow Spaniard Pau Gasol was ever pleased regarding playing in Tennessee for over seven seasons? That's just the way it goes.
