Some Excellent Suggestions For An Awesome Motion Picture To Watch Tonight

By Margery Woodard

Tons of sites now present software that will permit you to burn the motion picture to a Disc. This is good if you are like most people and you prefer to view a movie, snuggled down on your sofa in front of your television set rather than sitting at your computer desk. If that is important to you, make sure that it is accessible on the service you choose. Below are some of the greatest movies of all time. Choose a good motion picture to watch this evening.

The Night of the Iguana - Trudging story based on Tennessee Williams play. Recovered alcoholic clergyman Burton, a bus-journey guide in Mexico, becomes involved with Kerr, Gardner, and Lyon. Dorothy Jeakins won an Oscar for her costumes. Cast includes Richard Burton, Deborah Kerr, Ava Gardner, Sue Lyon, Skip Ward, Grayson Chamber, and Cyril Delevanti. (118 minutes, 1964)

House Springs - Having just been cast off by his fiance Driver, British actor Firth heads to the U.S. and falls for Graham. Then, wouldn't you know it, Minnie shows up. There are good acting jobs from one and all, although not enough laughs for a romantic comedy. The film is based on the book New Cardiff by Charles Webb. Cast includes Colin Firth, Heather Graham, Minnie Driver, Mary Steenburgen, Oliver Platt, and. (92 minutes, 2003)

The Ploughman's Lunch - Difficult, cynical denunciation of British behaviors, ethics and affairs of state, focusing on the maneuvers of completely egocentric journalist (Pryce) and others throughout the Falklands battle. The movie is relatively perceptive, within the restraints of its outlook. Cast includes Jonathan Pryce, Tim Curry, Rosemary Harris, Blunt Finlay, and Charlie Dore. (100 minutes, 1983)

Strange Interlude - A Eugene O'Neill drama that shows the complex web of the diversity between our thoughts and our words. Norma Shearer is cast as a woman who lost the love of her life when he was shot down in WWI. The movie speaks of romances and marriages between Nina and three men, only one of whom she loves. It is about growing old without settling their complications. This is a fascinating film, with Shearer at her brilliant best. The company includes Norma Shearer, Clark Gable, Might Robson, Maureen O'Sullivan, Robert Youthful, Ralph Morgan, Henry B. Walthall, and Alexander Kirkland. (110 minutes, 1932)

On Guard - A trustworthy swordsman saves a child princess from the wicked grasp of her malevolent enemy. The toddler's dad was also the swordsman's teacher. A charmingly old-styled popcorn motion picture that is full of action and set in the France of Louis XIV. Cast includes Daniel Auteuil, Fabrice Luchini, Vincent Perez, Marie Gillain, Yann Collette, Didier Pang, and Philippe Noiret. (128 minutes, 1997)

The Leading Man - British backstage show romantic movie in regards to an American film superstar who seduces a playwright's unhappy spouse and his leading-woman mistress. When it might not make up its mind whether it is a comedy tirade or a light thriller, it's still extremely humorous stuff. Bon Jovi is excellent as the rash, immoral Yankee, and Galiena and Newton are fetching as the females trapped in his web. Cast includes Jon Bon Jovi, Anna Galiena, Lambert Wilson, Thandie Newton, Barry Humphries, and David Warner. (100 minutes, 1997)

The Last Time I Saw Archie - Webb's single try at comedy is less comical than some of his more serious films; a shame, since William Bowers' script-based on his own Army experiences had indisputable potential, and Mitchum agreeably underplays as the con guy. By the way, the genuine Archie Chamber sued for invasion of privacy. Cast includes Robert Mitchum, Jack Webb, Martha Hyer, France Nuyen, Louis Nye, Richard Arlen, Don Tangles, Joe Flynn, and Robert Strauss. (98 minutes, 1961)
